ABOUT ME

Hey there! My name is Ghanwa Shahnawaz, and I'm a resilience coach on a mission to challenge what it really means to be human through life's adversities. Is it the picture perfect image society pushes on us, how our culture expect us to show up, or is it something deeper and more personal? I came to this realization through my own struggles with mental health and life experiences, and now I'm dedicated to creating safe spaces for others to embrace their authentic selves and heal.

As a proud single mother to a pre-teen, I know firsthand how important it is to practice self-compassion and self-love. I was a teen mom myself, and that experience has shaped who I am today. As an content creator and public speaker, I share my light with others by advocating for mental wellness and personal growth. I've built a following of over twelve thousand by speaking my truth and empowering others to own their ife narrative and their healing journey. But that's not all I do – I'm also an artist who uses my work to express my ideas around mental health and trauma. From paintings to installations made of unconventional materials, my art sparks curiosity and creates dialogue.

I'm a lifelong learner, with a diverse academic background that includes two diplomas in Community Services Worker and Law Clerk and two certifications in Indigenous Studies and Contact Centre Operations. I'm well-versed in subjects like mental health, addiction, psychology, sociology, counseling, legal studies, diversity, sales, and client experience. Currently, I'm working at an award-winning bank, and I'm excited to be pursuing my dream careers, yes, plural.

I've been featured in Toronto Star, The Kit, Ryerson Journalism Radio, Heroic Humans Podcast, and a documentary film called #SelfHelp, which explores the current state of mental healthcare in Canada. I'm proud to be using my platform to raise awareness and inspire change.

Ultimately, I believe that each of us has the power to embrace the light within, to heal and grow, and to redefine what it truly means to be human.
